What is awareness dog training?
Awareness is an understanding... in this case knowing how to
understand what your dog is telling you, and teaching him to be
aware of what you are asking him to do. Our classes are more than just an
obedience class. We incorporate knowledge about your dog's body posture,
personality, and how to read his facial expressions into our
lessons so that you can communicate with your dog in a way you might not
have thought possible. By increasing your awareness of your dog's
abilities and personality, you can dramatically increase your talent
for teaching your dog.
About the trainer
Julie is a member of the
National Association of Dog Obedience
Instructors. She is also an AKC Canine
Good Citizen Evaluator.
Julie has been training dogs for friends and family for 20 years. She
has turned her love of animals into a career and is currently accepting
new students in Colorado. Julie and her family have two Jack Russell
Terriers... one who was having trouble in her previous home and one who
was rescued from a county animal shelter. Both dogs are doing amazingly
well and have become Julie's sidekicks in the dog training business!
Julie also has a special place in her heart for children, and has spent
many years working with at-risk youth in the behavioral health system,
residential treatment facilities, foster care, and with special needs
youth in schools. The combination of working with children and working
with dogs has evolved into The Little Critter Club,
where children learn to be responsible pet owners and gain the benefits
that come from having a happy pet in their home.
